JJ Lin: 'Reborn' after recent battle with ill health
Source: Yahoo! News
Local singer JJ Lin admitted
to "longing for a relationship", but that sense of longing came to an
abrupt halt with the onset of his earlier health problems. Speaking to
reporters at a "Casio G-Shock SHOCK THE WORLD" media launch, JJ is a
picture of health and looked relaxed flashing his trademark boyish grin
and dimpled smile.
"After the sickness, I feel that I cherish my career even more. My
vocal is my 'capital' and my 'weapon' so my career is where my focus is
on now."
"I've met really nice girls but I'm not able to put myself through a long-term relationship so it wouldn't be fair to the girl."
It seems the homegrown talent is trserious about building his
profession than tending to his emotional needs right now. See, not even
his best friend's (fellow local singer Hong Junyang) nuptials was
enough reason to push his love button. When quizzed further, JJ said he
is 'envious of the couple' but maintained his stance that 'love must
wait as career is his focus now'.
So don't be expecting any tittle-tattle of love life from JJ anytime
soon for the 'reborn' singer who released his latest and seventh album
last month, titled 100 days, now wants to channel his time and focus
into 'making music that can be used to change lives'.
"Unlike 100 days, my previous albums are very fanciful, a little bit of trying to prove something [of sorts]."
"Music to me has always been about fun and something fancy [but] now I
hope my music not only brings entertainment but changes lives as well,"
JJ explained.
The singer who took a year-long break from the music scene due to his
recent ill health cited the period as 'the worst ever in his whole
career'. According to JJ, he sank into depression and 'chose to close
his heart and shut his room door on his friends and family'.
"I was so scared that I won't be able to go back to my normal self - to let people hear the JJ Lin that they used to hear."
And it was during those quiet days of reflection that JJ learnt the importance of 'cherishing'.
"I've learnt that cherishing what you have now is a virtue. To be able
to make use of what God has given to you for a good purpose and not to
take that for granted."
"From this album [100 days], this is where I'm going to take my music
from now on, with more involvement in charity work and bring my music
to the next level."
