Leon Lai shows his might against TVB

Heavenly King Leon Lai has become a face for the coalition against TVB in the currently ongoing royalties dispute in Hong Kong.
Leon, also the boss of record label Amusic, prevented the station from
an interview with his label artistes Janice Vidal and Aarif Lee on
Monday, apparently in a show of protest.
TVB is in a heated feud with the four major labels - Universal Music,
Warner Music, EMI Music and Sony Music - over royalties issues. To
antagonize things further, expected winners at their recent Jade Solid
Gold awards like Eason Chan, Kay Tse and Hins Cheung all went home
empty-handed. The dispute has escalated as the days pass, with both
sides choosing not to relent, but miring more and more companies and
artistes.
Leon is the first of the Four Heavenly Kings to throw his weight into the matter.
When contacted, Amusic responded that Janice and Aarif are too
inexperienced to give an interview given the recent uproar over the
language celebrities use to talk to the media, and the reported
decision has nothing to do with Jade Solid Gold or the ongoing dispute.
They have also cleared the air with TVB over the issue, and Leon would
still conduct interviews with the latter.
Over on the end of another Heavenly King, Jacky Cheung, the tension isn't showing. Not on the surface, at least.
The Universal singer gave a Cantonese interview on cable TV recently,
and at the Nanjing premiere of his movie 72 Tenants of Prosperity on
Monday, he also said that not singing the film's theme song has nothing
to do with the feud.
Veteran actor Eric Tseng, who was beside the superstar, joked that TVB didn't ban Jacky, but in fact "Jacky banned TVB".
