Singer Rain treated Malaysia with a passionate performance at a concert in the country’s capital of Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

The local press said that Rain gave a "spectacular performance" with the aid of high-tech visual effects and fireworks. “Whenever 'baby face' Rain gave his famous beaming smile, some 10,000 fans at the concert went wild,” it reported. “The Korean singer’s dynamic, energetic dancing also sent them wild with excitement.”

The press said that the highlight came when artificial rain soaked the singer and revealed the silhouette of his body.

The Malaysia concert was hosted by HotLink and sponsored by Korean Air.

Korean Air is the main sponsor of Rain’s world tour, a deal that comes up to almost US$1.8bil (RM6.4bil).

According to Korean Air assistant manager of corporate communications Cho Hyong-Chol, the amount includes promotion of Rain’s concert tickets in the airline’s overseas offices, complimentary tickets for the artiste and his crew, and free transport for his stage equipment throughout his sixmonth world tour, which will eventually consist of 35 concerts in 17 cities in 11 countries.

“We are sponsoring the world tour because this is a very good opportunity for two of Korea’s leading global images – Korean Air as Korea’s flagship airline and Rain as the leading South Korean entertainer – to work together to promote Korean culture worldwide,” said Cho. “We are also able to provide him with a global network of flights that can take him to whichever city around the world for his tour.”

The most striking feature of this sponsorship deal is the wrapping of one of Korea Air’s flagship aircraft with an image of Rain appropriately sporting a pair of wings – an undertaking that cost US$30mil (RM108mil).
