HONG KONG - TANG Wei will return to the screen in a Hong Kong romance
opposite Jacky Cheung, her first film since she was banned in China for
starring in the spy thriller Lust, Caution (2007).
The Chinese
actress plays a wilful single woman whose family arranges for her to
date an electrical goods shop owner's laid-back son played by singer
Cheung, says Ming Pao Daily News.
The film is written and will
be directed by Ivy Ho, who won awards for her screenplays for Comrades,
Almost A Love Story (1996) and July Rhapsody (2002).
Shooting starts next month, says the report.
Tang's
skincare commercial was taken off the air in China last March and she
was banned in the mainland media. But she has been appearing in public
in China since October and now holds a Hong Kong passport.
